What problems do women with breast cancer face?

The disease affects both the body and the soul of a woman. The problems a woman has to face are destabilization, changes in body image and functionality, the difficult treatment process, etc. At the same time, patients are faced with a number of practical problems due to the reasonable lack of knowledge and information about practical management issues, such as the restoration of their image, their psychosocial empowerment, the management of their relationships with their social environment, the conveniences which are necessary for them during treatment, reintegration after recovery.

How much lack of information is there about the importance of prevention?

Although there is information about the importance of prevention, intensive work is needed to make people aware.

Early diagnosis is still women’s most valuable weapon against the disease, which means regular check-ups with clinical examination and diagnostic tests, always in consultation with a qualified physician. At the same time, it helps to know our body and to take care of our health in general, adopting healthy choices.

What does “Alma Zois” do to address these issues?

The Hellenic Association of Women with Breast Cancer “Alma Zois” is a Non-Profit Association, founded in 1988 and managed by women who have been affected.

All these years “Alma Zois” offers free psychosocial support to the woman who is ill and to her family members, provides valid information to the patient on all matters related to her health and fights for the rights of patients.

At the same time, it tries to contribute to the improvement of prevention through major actions to inform and mobilize the general population.
